VALLEY LEADERSHIP RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT TO SUPPORT TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS FROM QWEST

PHOENIX – Valley Leadership is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from Qwest, the nation’s premier provider of full-service voice, video and data services.  The grant dollars will be used to support Maricopa County’s premier teen leadership development program, Valley Teen Leadership.  The recent award makes it the second such grant received from Qwest by Valley Leadership within the past two years.

“Valley Leadership is fortunate to have the support of such impressive community-minded organizations like Qwest,” said Alison Rapping, executive director of Valley Leadership.  “The grant dollars we receive help support the quality Valley Teen Leadership programming as well as make it available to all teens free-of-charge.”

Valley Teen Leadership is a multi-month program which engages 50 Valley teens in discussions about community issues, inspiring them to get actively engaged in creating solutions while helping them to develop leadership skills.  The program is in its 12th year.

Qwest President Pat Quinn commented, “Valley Teen Leadership provides incredible value because it educates, informs and inspires young adults to take an active role in their communities.  It’s a worthwhile investment of Qwest resources providing our next generation of leaders with the leadership skills that Qwest, and other companies, are looking for.”
